In short

      No matter what way you choose, make sure to

  Step by Step

How to start a session via:

Start from the Fastned app
Don’t plug the connector into your EV before finishing these steps.

  1. Download our free app from the app-store-png-logo-33123.png or google_play_store.png
  2. Follow the set-up steps and add your favourite payment method.
  3. Click the big yellow ‘charge’ button in the bottom menu.
  4. Select your charger — you’ll find the number (for example '4') on the charger.
  5. Not able to choose a charger? No worries! Just enter the 5 or 7- digit charger code (for example, '23501') which is visible near the charger screen or on the plug holder.
  6. Plug the connector into your vehicle and voilà!
You should now see that your EV is charging, on the charger screen, the Fastned app and in your vehicle’s dashboard.

Quick tip: Allow the app to access your location, so it can recognise at which station you are at. This way, picking the right charger is a breeze, and you don’t need to look for the charger code.

Swipe your EV charge card
Don’t plug the connector into your EV before finishing these steps.
  1. Swipe your EV charge card in front of the card reader on the charger (on some chargers, you might have to press the "start" button first).
  2. Select a connector via screen or from the button(s) underneath the charger screen.
  3. Plug the connector into your vehicle and voilà!
You should now see that your EV is charging, both on the charger screen and your vehicle’s dashboard.

Quick tip #1:
Your EV charge card provider could apply an adjusted price or a service fee. Check their website for info on pricing and conditions. 🕵️

Quick tip #2:
When you start your session with an EV charge card, you will be billed via the charge card provider. Even if you have a bank/credit card as your primary payment method in your Fastned app.
Start from the payment terminal
Don’t plug the connector into your EV before finishing these steps.
  1. Hold your contactless debit/credit card or mobile wallet against the payment terminal to make a €/£/CHF 40 reservation.
  2. It takes a few seconds to verify the card
  3. Select a connector from the button(s) underneath the charger screen.
  4. Plug the connector into your vehicle and voilà!
You should now see that your EV is charging, both on the charger screen and your vehicle’s dashboard.

Quick tip #1:
For non-credit card payments, a £40 (or €40) prepayment is required. After your charge session, the amount that you didn't use will be refunded back to your bank account. Depending on your bank, it can take up to 2 business days before the refund is back on your bank account.

Quick tip #2:
For credit card payments, a €/£/CHF 40 (or €40) reservation is made. After your charge session, we will only charge your credit card for the amount that you have charged. The remainder of the reservation will be cancelled. Depending on your bank, this usually happens within one week.
Scan the QR code for an anonymous one-time web payment
Don’t plug the connector into your EV before finishing these steps.
  1. Scan the QR code on the charger screen with your smartphone’s camera (like taking a picture) and open the proposed web page.
  2. If required, enter the 5 or 7-digit charger code (for example, “23501”) which is placed near the charger screen.
  3. Choose your payment method and follow the steps as described. You will now see that the charger is starting a charge session.
  4. Select the connector you want to use.
  5. Choose your payment method and follow the payment steps.
  6. Plug the connector into your vehicle and voilà.
You should now see that your EV is charging, both on the charger screen and your vehicle’s dashboard.

  Issues?

Follow these steps:

  1. Disconnect the connector from the vehicle     wait 15 sec.
    • Ensure charger is responsive (Press on a button/charger screen)
    • Ensure your vehicle is in parking
  2. Start the session
  3. Connect the connector with your vehicle (Not sure which plug to use? --> Check out our vehicle tips here or in the Fastned App)
