Want to read more about what determines your charge speed? Please click here to read our article about charge speed.
Here are some possible reasons for why your charging speed is low and what you can do about it.
Please note that the vehicle determines the charge speed, and it also depends on multiple factors.
Is the charge speed slower than expected? Unfortunately, there is not much you, or we can do about it.
1. State of charge: In general, one could say that if a battery is charged up to around 80 % the charge speed will drop.
💡 → In many cases, due to the fact that the charge speed will drop past this threshold, it makes sense to stop charging when the above limit is reached, and to continue driving.
2. Temperature: If a battery is too cold or too warm (depending on the vehicle type) the charge speed is much slower.
💡 → Some vehicles can pre-heat the battery by a setting in the dashboard or by selecting the Fastned locations in the vehicle-navigation system (Tesla).
